Part of being successful is about asking questions and listening to the answers.

Frequently Asked Questions:

How far in advanced do I need to book an appointment?

Earlier is better, but there are days/times when even last-minute appointments can be scheduled. It never hurts to ask.

Click the "Chat" button below to ask Jeff for a list of available days or times.

What if I need to cancel my appointment?

Life happens, and life is most important.  I ask that you give me as much notice as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment to give another client your scheduled time.

How often should I book a massage as I prepare for my upcoming competition?

Ask Jeff to create a customized schedule to best fit your individual needs, your workout plan , as well as your budget.

How close to my competition date can I get a massage?

A BodyHaul massage can benefit the athlete all the way up to and including the day of the competition.

Make sure you let Jeff know if you have a competition soon after your appointment so the products used as well as the massage modalities practiced will best benefit you on the day of your show.

Frequently Asked Questions About Waxing:

Will it hurt?

Rather than telling you not to worry, below are what some of my regular clients have to say about being waxed and rating the pain on a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being most painful):

“On a scale of 1-10 I’d say it was about a 6, but the thing is it’s only momentary and then it’s gone.”

"I spent more time laughing and talking than I did worrying about the pain. Jeff is great at distracting you."

"Not bad at all, maybe a 5? But you know what hurts like a 10?, seeing your girl’s face when she sees my nasty attempt at clearing my bush. Jeff is a pro at what he does."

"I can tell you that you do get used to it, and it gets easier each time you get waxed.  After a few months you’ll be wondering what all the fuss was about."

"It actually wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.  I was expecting a 10, but it was probably really a 6 if that?"

Isn't shaving easier and just as good as waxing before a competition?

Shaving might be easier, but waxing removes not only the hair, but also a layer of the dead skin attached to the athlete’s body. Removal of the dead skin patches allows the athlete to tan more evenly and increase the visibility of their muscle mass and definition.

A full body wax prior to a competition will give the athlete's skin that "cellophane across the muscle mass" appearance the professional on stage is looking for.

NOTE: Pay attention next time you see an athlete on the stage. If you see dark patches on their body after a spray tan that move around, those are dead skin patches. These darker patches are where there is a layer of dead skin and the tanning dye is thicker there than on areas of the body with newer skin.

How long does my hair have to be for the best waxing results?

For a first-time waxing, the hair needs to be  at least as long as 2 grains of rice to produce the best results.  This is especially true if your last grooming was a shave.

NOTE: Before coming in, DO NOT trim your hair.  Longer hair is preferred.

Do I need to do any special preparation for a wax, and what should I do afterwards?

Yes, how you prepare and take care of your skin after is just as important as the skill of your therapist.

BodyHaul will make sure you have the best advice for the most successful treatment both before and after your waxing.

How long will the hair-free effect last?

This varies for everyone.  There should be very little hair growth within the first 3 weeks or so, and then it may start to increase.  You should leave at least 4 weeks between appointments. Most men have their waxing done every 5-6 weeks, but long-time clients can wait even longer.

What if I get aroused during a Manzilian wax treatment?

It happens, so don't let it bother you.  It’s quite common, especially with a first treatment, and it usually passes pretty quickly as soon as the waxing begins.

NOTE: Any arousals of more than 11" require an additional wax supply surcharge.

(Just kidding!)

Are there any conditions which mean I won’t be able to have a wax treatment?

If you have any forms of contagious skin conditions, I won’t be able to wax the affected area until the condition has cleared up.  Sunburnt, chaffed, or broken skin should not be waxed until it is completely healed.

Clients who are taking Roaccutane will need to delay having a wax treatment until at least six months after completing their medication.  Skin that has been treated with steroid creams, Retin-A, Differin, or any other retinoid acne products cannot be waxed for three months after the course of treatment has been completed.

Is male waxing really popular?

Very.  In fact, it’s so popular that I am able to specialize only in male grooming.

In Hawaii, there are a very limited number of therapists that work on male clients, especially those who do manzilian waxing. Of those who do, not many are as experienced and, more importantly, comfortable waxing the male physique.

It the waxing therapists male or female?

Your waxing therapist is male, highly experienced, and qualified. Check out the "Who's your Therapist" tab for more information.

Do you wax women at BodyHaul?

My clients often ask if I can wax their wives or girlfriends.  I don't, BUT I will happily make a referral for you to one of my trusted fellow estheticians.

Can I get a patch test before I have a full wax?

If you want to have a wax patch test, I can happily do that for you. This can be a great way to see how your body reacts if you have a known allergy or sensitive skin, or if you've had an adverse reaction to waxing at some point in the past.

A wax patch test takes just 15 minutes and is free of charge.

How long will a wax treatment take?

This can vary according to the density of the hair and the actual body size (a hairy 6’ 5” bodybuilder will clearly take a little longer than most other clients).  But here’s a rough guide:

Back or chest                            20 – 30 mins

Full leg or arm                          20– 40 mins

Eyebrows, nose or ears      15 – 20 mins

Full Brazilian                             40 - 60  mins
